Physical memory dump error (blue screen)
Hello all, just joined the forum to reply tot his thread, re HYSICAL DUMP ERROR as it a very common problem that you can waste a lot of time and energy on, and it is always intermittent because, ITS ALMOST ALWAYS CAUSED BY BAD MEMORY CHIPS, beg borrow or buy some different ram to what you are using now, and it will be fixed. We all make the mistake of assuming that RAM is infallible, it is not . There are ram testing programs available, but they all require to be booted from a disc, etc. If you think about it , there is a clue is in the message itself.

dumping error
I was playing NHL 2005 and in the middle computer halted and blue screen error popped up. It said the computer needs to be turned off to prevent further damage to the computer.
The error was following:

What does it mean? How can I prevent it? Is it a dangerous error?
Any suggestions will be helpful.

Blue Screen — overrun a stack-based buffer
I copied this from a 2-year old post, because it is precisely what I see when I attempt to access my 3-1/2″ floppy drive.
The reply to the original was «buy new memory».
I recently upgraded from 512mb to 2gb — max available for Dell Dimension 3000.
The ONLY time this error has occured is when selecting A-drive. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the floppy drive and floppy drive controller a few times in various sequences with no change.

Most likely a driver issue.
I get exactly the same blue screen as the one mentioned. I checked my hard disk through properties, tools, but since i didnt see the answer of the scan I scanned my memory for errors and it reported that there is an error.

I had same problem replaced my ram and it went away

I have a similar situation as the OP, but I am not sure about the exact error numbers so I’ll just retell.
So I was using my computer normally as I have been since I got it (some time ago), and out of no where it completely freezes up, nothing works. So I press the power switch, and after some time (pretty long, thought it was weird and worth mentioning) it turns off and I restart.
Everything seems fine, so I go back to what I was doing. Then, it happens again (within I’d say 30 minutes of the first one). I’m getting kind of annoyed now, so I restart it again and scan my computer for some bug. Nothing was found on my computer, so I’m thinking it must be a problem with power supply or overheating.
After a couple more freezes (longer intervals, though), I check my fans and they’re all working, and I really didn’t want to go through the hassle of checking my power supply, so I just turned my computer off for the night and tried it about an hour ago.
Today, about 10 minutes after turning it on, it freezes for a few seconds then slams me with the blue screen error that the OP mentioned. I do play computer games, but I don’t just get it when I’m playing them; it happens when I’m on the internet (for example). I haven’t reproduced the error YET, so I don’t know what to think of it. Right now I’m booted with a past set up so maybe it was a bad installation.
Edit: Whenever my computer is about to go down, it makes clicking noises for a while before it does (the actual computer, not a noise on the internet or something), which actually makes me think it’s definitely not some program.

How do i pause the error?
Okay, i have the Blue Screen of Death infrequently but i have had it ever since i got my new computer (like 5 months ago). I probably get the error once every 1 or 2 weeks. My question at the moment is how do i make the error pause on screen so i can write down the specifics, as you only have about 30 seconds to find a note pad, or in my case jump over a table and fall over a chair in a desperate effort to get a camera, before the computer restarts. I saw someone explain how to do it a couple months ago but i have long since forgotten where i saw that. so, any ideas?

Reason to dumping of physical memory
Hey guy’s I am a computer nerd.I think I can give u a reason to this:- it’s because while playing a game or doing something the RAM merges up the files and losses out some system files so the blue screen appears and say’s ‘dumping physical memory’. This is a kind of serious problem to some computers because in some cases the system gets crashed when the blue screen is on. And if you are using windows vista and higher version u will have to insert the os CD and click repair. This could set the problem up.

my question to every person above is why did everyone post their question under one topic? If you all have individual problems it would make it easier to make a new topic about your issue then perhaps you will get the answer you are looking for.

I have a similar problem. I tried to download new firewalls and what not and they wouldn’t properly install since i didn’t want to pay. Now all of my .exe files are screwed and i keep getting the blue screen of death.
I couldnt uninstall but i went through on safe mode and had deleted everything i had downloaded but it is still messed up. Ive done the role back system restore thing for windows vista and pushing F8 and everything. I’m just lost now and i need my computer for school. any ideas would be very much appreciated

Blue Screen, Memory Dump
I hear all about these games, the Call Of Duty. I have this part 2, which it sometimes affects to have blue screens. When I used adobe photoshop CS3. The Sim City 4, and others, Memory Dump Shows Up, due to Physical Memory. As well as browsing and loading long and hard in facebook. cityville. It is really shocking when it shows up. The problem is its Physical View or Resolution Advanced effect or something, when it loads longer or slower, it might cause Blue Screen or memory dump. For me to prevent this, I check the performance in the Task Manager preventing goes high after loading my Anti-Virus which is Kaspersky Anti Virus 2011, second latest today, preventing the graph going higher by draging the scroll in any browser slowly, showing drag movements in any games slowly in care like in call of duty2 or flight simulator X, and others. ang also prevent programs which is slower loading, means logging. I hate this physical memory dump or something.
Try to erase something which is not important in your directories
C:\Windows\Minidump\
C:\Users\9720JAS\AppData\Local\Temp\
or %SystemRoot%\TEMP
Use Run for windows vista or Windows 7
I should have apple software to prevent viruses, but which I do not prefer yet
No problem with this, If you would check mine. 30 Декабря 2010

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you’ve seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.
Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

Physical memory dump error (blue screen)

I have been having many of the same issues as the previous posts. For instance when I play World of Warcraft, it seems to work fine but every so often I will have it crash on me. Is this due to my graphics card driver being unstable? It is fully updated. (Nvidia Go 7300)
I recently have had «the blue screen of death» plague me for the past few days. I have to keep booting up in safe mode, when I try to boot windows normally it auto. gives me the memory dump blue screen. This being said, it is really annoying I basically can’t boot my computer, and I can’t seem to play games (steadily)
Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Same Problem/Different Ending — HELP!!
I’ve been reading your posts on the «blue screen of death» and the dumping of physical memory. What it looks like to me, however, is that even after having these things happen, most of your computers are still operational to a large degree. Not so with mine.
I saw the blue screen and my laptop began dumping the physical memory, but ever since, all it does when I turn it on is ATTEMPT to start Windows XP. Before the OS has a chance to fully load, the laptop shuts off, then tries to restart — over and over again. XP never completes the load and I can’t even get to the point where I can go to safe mode and navigate through my files and folders.
I kinda think I’m screwed and the only recourse for me is to buy and install a couple of new RAM cards.
Thanks for listening. Any ideas on this?

hey cpc and everyone i was wondering if you could help me solve my memory dump problem:
two weeks ago I built a new gaming PC. I had installed many games on it such as Bioshock (uninstalled it), Gears of War (uninstalled it), Assassins Creed, Company of Heroes and TF2. Two days ago I started getting random blue screens of death that last less than 1 second, after that my PC automatically reboots. The first time this occurred was during a game on team fortress 2 but then it started occurring midway through windows, sometimes it occurs when im not even at my computer. I manage to read some of the error, i know it says memory dump then it goes through some lines of text but this occurs too quickly so i cant even see whats happening. Now its occurring every few hours..
I was reading the post: How do I read minidumps? and i read the instructions:
«1) Download and install the
Debugging Tools from Microsoft[/url]
2) Locate your latest memory.dmp file- C:\WINDOWS\ Minidump\Mini081505-01.dmp or whatever
3) open a CMD prompt and cd\program files\debugging tools for windows\
4) type the following stuff:
Code:
c:\program files\debugging tools>kd -z C:\WINDOWS\ Minidump\Mini081505-01.dmp
(it will spew a bunch)
kd> .logopen c:\debuglog.txt
kd> .sympath srv*c:\symbols*
kd> .reload;!analyze -v;r;kv;lmnt;.logclose;q
5) You now have a debuglog.txt in c:\, open it in notepad and post the content here»
but at step 2 i cant find that folder or those files.. can anyone help me? Thanks

My laptop lid closes and it enters slumber mode. When I open the lid and it would load to the login screen for the desktop sometimes it would BSOD on me and physical memory dump and all that other jargon pops up but not long enough to actually make out what it is saying. It also does it when I run a system health scan everytime. So when the laptop reboots it tells me a solution is to upgrade to vista service pack 1. Did it. Didn’t work. It then referred me to Intel and I downloaded the currently available memory driver. Then I would get a slower physical dump and then it would partially load and then reboot on me with the same slow BSOD rather than being quick about it like it use to. It doesn’t take too long. About 10 seconds or so. The original BSOD took about 5 or less. So I went into safe mode and restored it back to before I dl’d that driver. So now I’m stuck in limbo with no knowledge of how to get out of it without risking the laptop. I also notice whenever I get an update for HP health check it wouldn’t dl and error saying stuff like java fatal error and such and some other issue. What exactly is going on?

ok the «blue screen of death» as i call it happens when windows suffers a serious error. if you see it once or twice it should not affect you. if it happens often, you should reformat your harddrive. Again, The blue screen usually never will bather you again.
It is possible that the issue is caused by a wrong or outdated driver. Simply reinstalling windows is an unnecessary step. Don’t waste your time.
Try drivers first.

You could try this. go here and download drivercleaner pro http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745 there is a step by step guide in the help file of drivercleaner. However, I am going to give you another step by step guide too. which is here http://www.driverheaven.net/windows-xp-2k-radeon-display-drivers/107447-uninstalling-installing-ati-drivers-properly.html
I cannot stress enough follow the directions.
Something it does’t tell you about is the cab cleaner feature of driver cleaner. After you have ran driver cleaner in safe mode and have cleared all of the old drivers on the driver cleaner window click tools then click cab cleaner and this opens up the cab cleaner feature. You want to clean the driver.cab file and the SP2.cab file.
Once that has finished you have 2 options..you can use ATI’s drivers or you can get the omega drivers for ATI cards from http://www.omegadrivers.net/omega_drivers.php
I chose to go with the omega drivers and haven’t had any issues since. If you decide to do this, let us know if it works for you.
