- Windows 10 Home 32-bit 64-bit Swedish USB (Retail).
- Cleared CMOS both by MB button, and removing battery for hours
- Removed and reinserted RAM and M.2 SSD.
- Used BIOS FlashBack with FAT32 USB-stick with latest BIOS from ASUS (ROG-STRIX-Z590-F-GAMING-WIFI-ASUS-0708.CAP renamed to SZ590F.CAP). When doing so, the BIOS led starts blinking constantly for about 6-7 minutes and then it is not lightened anymore. I assume there is a BIOS update installed after that but when my PC is restarted, I first get the usual «press del/f2» to enter bios, but pressing any of those keys have no affect, and then I get the «bios is updating. » message again and the PC is stuck.

Nope, I cannot come in to BIOS, del/F2 is displayed but not working. No info on BIOS version. And then stuck with the «bios is updating. «-message again.

Wired or wireless keyboard?
After flashing the BIOS, did you leave the USB drive attached to the motherboard’s USB port? If not, you should until the system completely restarts.

Thanks for reply. USB Wired, tried several USB ports, the keyboard lightens up during boot så it seems connected. And I tried both leaving the flash USB and remove it before restart. But same behavior unfortunately.

When you reset the motherboard BIOS, did you disconnect all power sources before doing so (power cable from PSU, video cable, powered speakers)?

I tested again to update BIOS with BIOS FlashBack after have followed your recommendation to disconnect all cables, and again, after pressing flashback button for 3 seconds, I could see that during apprx 15 seconds the flashback led was constantly blinking slowly, and after that it started blinking faster constantly for about 5 minutes, and I could see on the USB stick that there was activity ongoing since the USB stick led was blinking. After that, the flashback led was not lit anymore. I then reconnected the display, keyboard and mouse and restarted (with the flashback USB stick still inplace. And the result was as before, the system booted and the «press del/F2 to enter BIOS setup» was displayed but nothing happened when I pressed any of those keys. And same message «BIOS is updating. » displayed. So it looks like there was a BIOS installed, but I cannot enter BIOS setup at boot, to restore default BIOS settings with F5. So maybe the problem to try to solve is to figure out how I can get the keyboard work at boot? I have earlier tried to connect the keyboard to different USB ports (2.0, 3.2 Gen1/2) but same result.

Обновление BIOS на HP не очень отличается от прошивки на ноутбуках других производителей. Забегая вперед отмечу, перед прошивкой удостоверьтесь, что зарядное устройство подключено, закрыты все излишние программки, отключены антивирус и BitLocker.
Обновление BIOS из-под системы Windows
Обновить биос HP вы сможете из-под Windows, а если система не загружается, то через загрузочную флешку WinPE 10-8 Sergei Strelec.
Шаг 1. Для начала войдите в БИОС и поглядите ее версию.
Шаг 2. Откройте официальный веб-сайт разработчика hp.com. Изберите категорию «Ноутбук».
Шаг 3. Введите серийный номер либо модель ноутбука в строчку поиска, нажмите Выслать .
Шаг 4. На страничке «ПО и драйверы» удостоверьтесь, что веб-сайт верно обусловил вашу версию операционной системы Windows. Под заголовком «Все драйверы» кликните по строке «BIOS», тем развернув информацию о нем.
Тут вы увидите самую последнюю версию биос. Производитель также дает возможность скачать 3 прошлые версии, для этого нажмите «Связанные файлы» и изберите нужную версию. Направьте внимание, что в скобках обозначено «с микропроцессорами Intel», если у вас AMD отыскиваете другую версию и напротив. Для скачки на компьютер кликните мышкой по ссылке Загрузить .
Шаг 5. Запустите загруженный файл двойным щелчком мыши, если выплывет окно безопасности, изберите Да .
Шаг 6. В окне HP Notebook System BIOS Update нажмите Дальше .
Шаг 7. Примите условия лицензионного соглашения и кликните Дальше .
Шаг 8. Программка автоматом укажет путь для распаковки, оставьте все без конфигураций и изберите Дальше .
Шаг 9. Программка HP System BIOS Update Utility автоматом запуститься после распаковки и проинформирует о способностях. Чтоб продолжить, нажмите Next .
Шаг 10. Тут будет предложено три варианта использования утилиты:
- Обновить BIOS HP.
- Сделать флешку восстановления BIOS HP
- Cоздать копию имеющегося BIOS.
Изберите «Update» и нажмите Next .
Шаг 11. В последующем окне вы увидите предупреждение о том, что блок питания должен быть подключен к ноутбуку. Не отключайте зарядник до окончания всей процедуры. Изберите Next .
Шаг 12. Дальше опять предупреждение.
В окне сказано, что ноутбук перезагрузится. Во время установки BIOS:
- Не отключайте питание.
- Не добавляйте либо удаляйте любые устройства.
- Не запускайте никаких других приложений.
- Не позволяйте системе перебегать в спящий режим либо гибернацию.
Вы сможете услышать, что вентилятор на ноутбуке набирает высочайшие обороты, это обычное явление. Ничего не жмите, в том числе кнопку включения/выключения, даже если покажется что ничего не происходит, просто ожидаем окончания. Ноутбук уйдет в перезагрузку с полным отключением, после пуска вы увидите на черном экране процесс загрузки, как достигнет 100%, опять перезагрузится. Это все, Windows запустится и можно воспользоваться.
Шаг 13. Информацию о свеже установленной версии вы сможете поглядеть в биос либо из-под системы. Чтоб узреть в виндовс, вызовите окно «Выполнить» при помощи сочетании кнопок Win + R , введите команду msinfo32 и нажмите Enter . Тут вы увидите версию вашего освеженного биоса.

Имейте виду, что за обновление биос ответственность несете только вы сами. Если корректно переустановить биос на ноутбуке HP не вышло и система больше не запускается, то придется обращаться в сервисный центр. Следуйте серьезным советам этой аннотации и все закончится успешно.

So I was going to update my bios, I put the bios file in the FAT32 usb hardrive and went into the bios, I enabled BIOS boot function and clicked on «select one file to boot» when suddenly I got an error saying «The SETUP Data Map is different between system BIOS and boot BIOS. If select to boot, the system would be fail to reboot. » And so I disabled the BIOS boot function and restarted the computer because I was too scared to try to update bios after this error, anyone has any idea what this means or what I can do to update the bios without getting this??

Do you click the «Select one file to boot» during the USB M-Flash?
try to pick the their opition «Select one file to updateBIOS and ME»
this is the right one for M-Flash update!
the top one is some new feature which can let you preview the new bios without install it, but not work very well

Whatever you do, DO NOT use MSI «Live Update» to flash your BIOS! With LU there is a high probability that you will brick your mobo!

I have an MSI H97 Gaming 3 mobo, and yeah, I’ve read about live update and its problems with bios updating, never tried it and never will.

you should not boot to nothing you go to the bios then theres a page that you select how your flashing you select the usb way and follow the prompts and it will load the bios file from the pendrive to the bios chip and when complete its done
don’t your manual show this?? and the steps from oc’er should be near the same — you down load the bios set up the pen drive add the bios file to the drive go in to your bios to the flash page and select the usb way it will find the drive select the file and hit go then it will read and load the new bios to the bios chip and when done you set things back up in the new bios and save and exit ..
now be sure you got the correct bios and a good clean download of it

this is just sad from msi —- »Boards with built-in M-Flash function — While this is a nice idea, at the moment we are seeing many cases of users using M-Flash to update their BIOS and having problems, so at present we don’t recommend people use M-Flash either!
so is it that there boards have no stable way to flash them?? I see msi won’t be coming to this house its like »we got bios updates for you but we have no way for you to do it safe ??»
