Background:
I worked For Logitech for years (2009-2012) in the gaming division
We ran into this error from time to time, there are 2 reasons you might lack this dll.

A) You are on an older version of windows (7 or earlier)
B ) you upgraded from 7 straight to 10. without formating

Factory installs of Windows 8 and 10 do not encounter this.

provides the best method for updating direct X.

This problem occurs (typically) if your direct x is out of date.

1) I patched the installer for Tyrfing Cycle to include a direct X update.

2) — in the folder Steam\steamapp\common\tyrfingcycle
you will see 2 sub folders. System32 and SysWow64

a) Copy the Xinput1_4.dll file in the Steam\Steamapps\common\TyrfingCycleSystem 32 folder and paste the Xinput1_4.dll file into C:\Windows\System32

b) (64 bit only) Copy the Xinput1_4.dll file in the Steam\Steamapps\common\TyrfingCycleSyswow64 folder and paste the Xinput1_4.dll file into C:\Windows\Syswow64

3)Reinstall tyrfing cycle

4) Restart your computer.

XINPUT DLL WORK AROUND

I do my best to accept responcibility with all aspects, where possible. Sometimes
there are issues that 1 or 2 days of troubleshooting wont resolve.

So I offer a work around for folks having issues with the Missing or unloadable Xinput1_4 Dll

— What is Xinput1_4.DLL?
— This is a microsoft file used for Xbox controllers (aka xinput contollers) This is an extension of Direct X. Regardless of whether or not you use an xb controller, any game that directly supports them must use DirectX. Tyrfing Cycle is no exception.

— Why is the dll unable to load, or missing?

Its tough to say, 1 of the 5 xinput dlls could be missing, corrupted or incompatable for some reason. Sometimes error codes and messages arent all that accurate either.

an error within .NET may cause the dll not to load but the dll itself is perfectly fine.

— Most users seem to not have this issue, but you wouldnt be in the bugs section of the forum if you didnt 😀

Here is a break down of what to do —

If you plan on using mouse and keybaord anyways — Just go into :
Steam/steamapps/common/TyrfingCycle and open the file called TyrfingCycle no GP.exe

This file omits Xbox controller support. and does not need the aforementioned DLL file.

If you wish to use a 360 controller

1) Install the most current version of Tyrfing Cycle, this will check and install .NET to make sure you have the required version.

2) Check The folders — System32 and Syswow64 (64bit only)
make sure you have:

Xinput1_1.dll ,
Xinput1_2.dll
Xinput1_3.dll
Xinput1_4.dll
Xinput9_1_0.dll

in both folders. Some may be missing.

3) Run TyrfingCycle.exe as administrator

5) if all else fails, Launch the alternative executable «TyrfingCycle noGP.exe»
This version does not use Xinput, so you will need keyboard and mouse, but it will still unlock achievements and trading cards no problem 🙂
